8. Fan
The Fan feature applies Spread values to spot parameters and channels according to the
selection order. The wheel is used to assign the Spread.
The first spot/channel of the selection is the base reference point for the Fan and as such stays
where it is set. The Fan is applied to the rest of the selection.
Example: Select channels 1, 5, and 3 and set the Base to 10. Now wheel the Spread to 45%;
channel 1 is at 10%, channel 5 at 55%, channel 3 at 100%.
You can fan one only parameter at a time.
When [FAN] is active (LED on) the parameter wheel assigns Fan Spread values. Selecting
another parameter turns off the Fan feature. You must press [FAN] again to reactivate.
The exception to this rule is the trackball. You can select pan (x), for example, assigning the
Fan with the X wheel. If you then use the trackball the Fan is applied to tilt (y) also.
ØØNote
Fan can be applied to all parameters.
Fan is useful for position, iris, dimmer, and color mixing.
Examples:
Colors Apply the fan to cyan. The result is light cyan to dark cyan according to the
cyan value of the first spot in the selection and the selection order. You can add
to this a Fan applied to yellow and get graduated shades of green. This can be
stored as a memory, Palette, and Color Library.
Iris Applying the Fan to the Iris when the starting value of the first spot in the
selection is a small Iris gives you beams that ascend in size.
Position You can create diagonals very quickly using Fan with the trackball.
Fan is interactive with the Effects Editor. You can use the Fan within the Effects Editor to
change the Base values, thus retaining the fan formation.
